Modern systems design is rarely complete without testing different variations of the same process. Nevertheless, in architectural and urban planning practice, we are accustomed to approaching the designed object as a static and unchanging entity, experiencing a single iteration of creation, rarely turning into development and never turning into the death of an object. Such an approach is counterintuitive when working with a complex dynamic information system, which is a modern metropolis.
Urban data analytics allows us to look at the city as a temporal composite system that experiences continuous fluctuations. Trying to understand these fluctuations leads us to a new method of designing the urban environment, using which we are able to analyze the effects of various changes. Thus, we are transforming the process of designing urban solutions. These solutions no longer exist in the task-project coordinate system, they become continuous processes of support and development, inseparable from the fluctuations of urban information.
